I was hoping that this was a butternut squash, since I did plant some in the garden. However, it isn't tan like I would have expected... any ideas anyone?? HELP!!
We love winter squash, especially since Mooky has a bad allergic reaction after eating sweet potatoes.

That's a butternut. It needs to stay on the vine until the skin is that buttery color. You also want the skin to be hard. I don't pick mine until pressing my nail into it doesn't leave a mark.
